I have really been reading, observing, and implementing what I have been learning about leadership. Some of what I have learned about leadership has been through trial and error. But all that I have gained of time has proven true and is seen in many of the great leaders that we know in our lives.
First, I want to talk about the way that some people, who think that they are leaders and everyone wants to follow them, are sadly mistaken. I have recently come into to top execs that think that it is the cool modern thing to do to try to "top" and talk down to individuals in order to demonstrate their power and control. This to me is the worse. These are the execs that go to networking events only to "peacock." ALL they talk about is themselves and their businesses, and the other person is either the same way and not listening because they are doing the same and trying to top the other, or the person they are bragging too just doesn't care and they are "turned-off" from continuing any contact with that person. So that in turn means that this person will probably go around telling people not to talk to this individual because they are so self absorbed and annoying. When you are this type of "peacocking" individual you damage both your reputation and anything else you are involved in, like businesses, organizations, etc.
True leaders are ones that take the time to find out about others and their situations. They are there for the other person and are truly selfless. And this is not something an individual can easily fake because people have a 6th sense in determining if people are sincere or not in what they say, body language, and eye movements. It is key that in order to be a great leader, you must learn people and how you can serve them. With this type of leadership...anything that you touch will reach success.
Leaders without interpersonal skills and that are selfish are a species of that past that is becoming extinct because of their self centeredness. Don't be that leader because you will be sure to fail.

A New Way to Marketing
I have just recently stepped into a whole new realm of our business. I have once again stepped out of my comfort zone so I know I am growing. I feel that I was becoming comfortable marketing my business in the traditional ways with minimal results.
So after knowing that the definition of insanity is to continue doing the same thing and expect different results, I have decided to begin marketing my business in a new way. Although I have began learning and applying these skills of marketing my business in a new way, I have not entirely neglected the traditional methods.
Already these methods are looking to create some good results. It creates the same results as the traditional methods, but it just creates them faster and builds a stronger foundation for my business a lot faster.
Even though I am pursuing a new way of marketing my business, it in now way means that I put less of myself into my business. I feel as if it may even require me to do a little more in some areas. For example, this new direction has, alone, forced me to read a lot more, and to actively find quality mentors. Whereas in my traditional method, I still read, but my mentors (still are and will continue to be) were presented to me, as well as suggested literature.
I believe my success, in using this new way of marketing, will reflect my lessons learned by the traditional methods (marketing, leading, building, etc.) used to run my business in the pass.
The main point that I want to make here is to not for get where you come when coming into something new. Use those past lessons learned and apply them to the new scenarios. Also, don't believe that there is only one way to obtain the results that you want. There are always other ways. Just find and utilized the method that is the most efficient, quality, and it is a plus if it brings value to you and others.
